Welcome to the UK's number one zoo, home to more than 7000 animals and over 400 individual species of rare, exotic and endangered wildlife. Chester Zoo is set in 110 acres of beautiful, award-winning gardens and promises a fun day out for everyone.
Chester Zoo is a unique and exciting experience - just ask the one million guests who visited last year alone. It's not just about the animals - the beautiful gardens are a delight to wander through, an adventure playground gives the kids a chance to let of steam and there is an abundance of fun and interactive activities to take part in throughout the day. From face painting to pottery painting, animals talks to pin badge trading, Chester Zoo provides all the ingredients for a fun day out with the family.
At the end of the day, rest your legs and hop on board the monorail for a tour of the zoo with a difference. This zoofari costs just £2 per adult and £1.50 for children and provides an excellent view of the animals. For the same price, you can join the waterbus and see the wildlife from another angle. Please note, there is no wheelchair access to the waterbus.
Chester Zoo Highlights:
- The Butterfly Journey is the largest zoo-based butterfly house in the UK. At 28 degrees Celsius inside, it's a very popular attraction in the winter months.
- Both the Monorail and Waterbus give you unique ways of seeing some of the wildlife on display. We highly recommend taking the monorail back to the car park at the end of the day.
- Realm of the Red Apes is one of the newest exhibits at Chester Zoo and immerses you in world of the forest. Home to the endangered Bornean and Sumatran Orangutans, this exhibit is sure to put a smile on your face.
