If you think you have what it takes to face the most extreme rollercoasters and thrill rides in the country, then take your family on a Thorpe Park break. This is no country for old men, that's for sure - we eat G-forces for breakfast at this theme park.

Home of the Unholy Trinity of rollercoasters, Thorpe Park is the theme park for older kids and adrenaline junkies. If white knuckle rides and extreme Gs are your thing, then look no further. Be catapulted from 0-80mph in two seconds on Stealth, get flung every which way but loose on The Slammer and suffer a soaking on the biggest log flume in the UK, Tidal Wave.

If you are planning on bringing younger children to the park, there is still plenty to see and do, but the park is aimed specifically at older kids and teens. For younger children, try Legoland Windsor or Chessington World of Adventures & Zoo which are both within a short drive.

Thorpe Park Highlights:

• Waiting for 45 minutes in the queue for Stealth to be over in just eight seconds. No, really - it's that good a rush you have to try it.
• A firm favourite with the Play and Stay team has to be Nemesis Inferno, Alton Towers' hard-core evil twin brother.
• While we're at it, Colossus has to make an appearance as well. The last of the Unholy Trinity, Colossus has no less than 10 loops throughout.

Rides:

If you know anything about rollercoasters, then you will know that the most horrific rides in the country all live at Thorpe Park. Unsuitable for anyone still in short trousers, the rides here really do test your metal. 2009 sees the arrival of the all new SAW: The Ride which features a 100 degree drop. Certainly not for the faint-hearted.
