The Invasion Of The Robo-Wristbands

An American company is developing a new wristband that could revolutionise the entire theme park experience. The answer, it seems, is in a tiny microchip.

Robo-wristbands

Designed by Precision Dynamics, the micro-chipped wristband is set to do away with the need to carry money through amusement parks. Tired of losing the change out of their pockets on rollercoasters or walking away with soggy dollar bills after the log flume, American thrill-seekers have lobbied the company to perfect the robo-wristband. Just by waving the band in front of sensors at the different kiosks, revellers at the theme park could set up an account and pay for drinks and snacks without having to lug their wallets about with them.

As well as a cashless payment system, the developers also claim that the new wristbands could act as a hotel room key and help parents locate their children if they decide to wander off.

Currently being tested out in over 50 theme parks across the US, the manufacturers hope that, if the trials are a success, the chipped wristbands could be wheeled out everywhere. And who knows, they might even find their way over to Blighty in the near future. Riding Rameses Revenge might not be such an expensive experience in the coming months then.
