Plans for Malaysia's first LEGOLAND theme park, scheduled to open in 2012, are well underway.
Malaysia will join Germany, England, Denmark and the United States by opening its own version of the LEGOLAND park.
Set to be located at the Iskandar Malaysia development region, the Park will have a strong Asian theme. Lego versions of the Petronas Twin Towers, India's Taj Mahal, Cambodia's Angkor Wat and Singapore's Merlion could all feature in this exciting, new development. It is hoped that construction will start later this year.
The theme park is proposed to occupy the space of around 30 football pitches, require 30m Lego bricks and cost about £130m to create. It will boast an array of rides, including rollercoasters, boat rides and even adventure walks. A variety of shows and attractions also feature in the plans to add even more excitement to guests' visits.
Despite the economic crisis, forecasters are predicting that the theme park will do very well. The Government-backed Institute for Independent Business have predicted that 1.4m visitors will pay Malaysia's first LEGOLAND theme park a visit in its first year alone.
