Gulliver's Kingdom, one of the UK's lesser-known theme parks, has recently unveiled plans to spend £4m on a facelift.

The family-run theme park in Warrington hopes that the massive spend will secure its future and will continue to attract the crowds throughout the recession. The park will create 370 jobs and a number of new rides and attractions in a bid to bring in more custom.

Julie Dalton, spokesperson for Gulliver's gave the following statement in an interview with the Manchester Evening News: "As we have built the Gulliver's brand on great value and excellent service, we are confident we can succeed in these challenging times."

Her hopes were backed up by travel association Abta who recently predicted that more people will take their family holiday in the UK in 2009. It is now more cost-effective to spend your holiday money at home rather than risk poor exchange rates on the Euro and other major currencies.

Last week we revealed Paulton's plunged £1m into their new ride, Edge.
