Disney is set to host its first official convention at the Anaheim Convention Center in California from 10-13 September 2009.

The convention, called the D23 Expo, is being touted as "the ultimate Disney fan experience" and is comprised of presentations, awards and workshops.

The schedule includes a meet and greet with Disney artist Jim Shore, previews of classic movies like Beauty and the Beast in 3D, props from past Disney Shows and celebrity appearances.

The convention covers all areas of the Disney empire from Disney's influence in the pop-world to its animation and movie empire.

The name D23 is in honour of the year 1923 when Walt Disney founded what would become the Disney Studios.
