Two female lemurs have been transferred from Chester Zoo to Jersey Zoo in order to start a new breeding programme for endangered ring-tail lemurs.

The females have completed a quarantine period and were recently moved to the park's main Lemur Wood enclosure.

The Chester Zoo imports are currently being socialised with three mail ring-tails and a family of red-fronted brown lemurs.

The breeding programme is being funded by a donation from Fairbairn Private Bank to the Gerald Durell Wildlife Conservation Trust at Jersey Zoo.
