Lancashire's Camelot Theme Park is set to re-open in the spring after it was forced into receivership in February.
Bought by the Cumbria-based company The Story Group, Camelot will eventually make way for a new residential development. However, in the short-term, the theme park has been leased to the newly-founded Knights Leisure and is due to open to the public in May this year.
Head of Knights Leisure, Roy Page, stated this morning that: "There's already a buzz about the place which we are sure will regain its position as one of the region's leading family visitor attractions."
Located at Charnock Richard, near Chorley, Camelot is a theme park that tries to recapture the magic of Arthurian legend. Filled with brave knights and wizards, Camelot boasts rollercoasters, water rides and even a real working farm for youngsters to enjoy.
Les Ross, one of the receivers appointed to Camelot, has announced: "This deal has secured more than 150 jobs, both full-time and seasonal, in the short term while the new owners submit a planning application for an alternative use for the site."
A shot in the arm for the local economy, though Camelot will have to close its castle gates for good once the re-development plans are settled, for this holiday season at least, the north west will still be able to enjoy all the magic of the legendary King Arthur.
