One of the world's rarest turtles has successfully reproduced in captivity at Chester Zoo.

 Annam Leaf Turtle

Five Annam leaf turtle eggs have been successfully hatched in an incubator in Chester Zoo.

The Annam leaf turtle has been hunted to near extinction and many believe that zoo populations are the only hope for the turtles' survival.

The Annam leaf is native to south-east Asia and this is the first time that the turtle has been bred in the United Kingdom.

Annam leaf turtles are hunted for food and medicinal purposes.
