Alton Towers is currently building a top-secret roller-coaster for the 2010 theme park season, code-named SW6, or Secret Weapon Six.

Although the project is shrouded in secrecy, Play and Stay can reveal that SW6 will be located on the Ug Land site which was previously home to Corkscrew. We can also reveal that construction has started for the ride which is to be manufactured by Intamin.

While the park has refused any further comment, online rumour suggests that the ride will open when Alton Towers reopens for the 2010 season on 20 March, 2010.

Other rumours suggest that SW6 will be called Surrender, but this has yet to be confirmed. Marketing for the attraction began in the summer of 2009, hinting at the ride being the first of its type in the world while suggesting that the ride will have a theme of a dark and sinister nature.

Why not pop to Alton Towers and try to catch a glimpse of the new ride? The Park will be hosting a season of Halloween events, which started on 17 October and will end on 1 November.
