Alton Towers gave the all clear this morning following a fire on Sunday night. Around fifty firefighters extinguished a blaze that broke out in a cable car station around 7.30pm.

The Forbidden Valley section of the park was evacuated as a precautionary measure and to allow easier access for fire services.

No guests were in the area of the fire, and no one was injured. However, the Skyride cable car suffered damage, and the roof was destroyed. The ride had been closed already for the remainder of the season, and it will remain so.

The park is open for business as usual, with the Forbidden Valley being opened slightly later on Monday. The fire will not effect anything in the park except for the Skyride for what remains of the season, which ends on 11 November.

The Forbidden Valley area of the park was closed on Sunday night, but is expected to reopen by Monday afternoon.
