Yesterday evening at 7.35pm, a fire in one of the Skyride stations was reported by a member of staff. The ride had been closed for some time, so there were no guests in the area. The fire service was called at 7.37pm and Alton Towers own security attended the scene to try to extinguish the fire at 7.38pm. No guests were involved and the Forbidden Valley was evacuated as a precautionary measure and to allow easier access for the fire services. Three appliances were on site by 8pm.

The cause of the fire is yet to be determined, but the Skyride will regrettably have to remain closed for the remainder of the season.

The Park will open as usual at 9.30am this morning, with the Forbidden Valley area of the Park opening as soon as the clean up operation is complete.
