Since it was founded in 1857 the science museum has gathered a collection of over 300,000 items including a working example of Charles Babbage's Difference Engine and the first jet engine. With so many fascinating exhibits covering an amazing spectrum of topics, the Science Museum is a great place to begin a London day out.
Even toddlers will love a trip to the Science Museum. Head down to the lower floors for a play area with a difference.
Science Museum Highlights:
- The 3D Imax cinema, although not free, must be seen when you visit the Science Museum. For a small fee, you can watch films and documentaries on all manor of inspiring subjects on a screen taller than four double-decker buses.
- The Launchpad gallery has been reinvented and offers hands-ons interaction with many exhibits. Great fun while you learn.
