Opening Times
Chester Zoo is open all year from 10.00am except Christmas day and Boxing day. Please see the Chester Zoo Opening Times page for full information of when the Zoo closes in the afternoon or evening.
Disabled Facilites
Chester Zoo is fully accessible for people with disabilities. All toilets have wheelchair access, and guide dogs are also welcome at the zoo, providing they avoid the Monkey, Chimpanzee, and Elephant enclosures. Additionally there are a number of wheelchairs and electric scooters available free of charge. If required, please book one of these in advance by calling 01244 389482.
Retail Facilities
There are three larger retail outlets at Chester Zoo, along with an number of smaller outlets dotted around the grounds. The largest shop, The Ark Shop is located at the main entrance. It sells a variety of merchandise and gifts, and it is open all year round. The Fountain Shop is conveniently located at the centre of the zoo, also selling gifts all year round. This shop also offers a facepainting service that is very popular with the young visitors. The third outlet, the Arara Shop, is located near to the Spirit of the Jaguar enclosure, and is open in peak season.
Catering Facilities
If you decide not to take a picnic to Chester Zoo then you certainly won't have to go hungry. There are plenty of cafés and restaurants located across the park, along with a number of ice cream kiosks which are open to guests in peak periods. The Ark Restaurant is located in the middle of the zoo, selling a large menu from snacks to plated meals. The burger bar is especially popular. Chester Zoo also houses Café Tsavo, near to the front entrance, Oakfield House Tea Room and Restaurant, situated by the Lions, and The Acorn Bar, with a fully licensed bar and beer garden on the side of Oakfield House.
