Splash Battle in 2008

Alton Towers have confirmed their first new ride for the 2008 season. The new ride has been named Battle Galleons, and is set to replace the pay per play Splash Kart Challenge.

The ride is believed to be a Splash Battle, similar to the one that opened at Flamingo Land earlier this year. On this type of ride you can expect to get wet as you move along a track - but you get to fire a water cannon back at targets. It's likely to be especially popular during the hot peak season, although Alton Towers have announced that it will be ready for March 2008.

The new ride falls into Alton Towers' proposed retheming of the Merrie England into a pirate themed area, which will also include an overhaul of the Tea Cup Ride.
